Upholding disabled people’s human rights: case studies from Commonwealth NHRIs
National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) across the Commonwealth have identified three practical ways that all organisations can uphold the rights of disabled people:
- involving disabled people in decision-making
- collecting and using disaggregated data to identify where people face multiple disadvantages
- making policies, services and information accessible by design
These case studies, compiled of submissions from CFNHRI members, highlights how NHRIs have used their unique powers to work with government, disabled people’s organisations and the private sector to put disabled people at the heart of decision making about policies that affect their day-to-day lives.
